Extreme Networks - The History and Future of Identity Identification (2023)

Explainer video created for Extreme Networks, discussing the history and future of identity verification.

My role in this project was to create an after effects template for the pop up book effect used throughout the video, although most of the animation in this video was done by an in-house animator at Dialect, I did some additional animation on the 3D globe and matrix sections of the video.

The client wanted to use a pop-up book format. However, the specifics of the video required an After Effects template that would allow us to:

  • Flip back and forth between pages easily.

  • Edit the contents of each page.

  • Move the camera around in 3D without any of the layers moving out of sync.

To achieve this, I used expressions to create a template where the entire animation is driven by one slider value. Each page is built from a number of pre-comps which can be easily edited without having to place any new objects in the main composition. Finally, the entire book is built using 3D layers so the camera can be moved around freely.

You can see the final video below, as well as an example showing how the pop-up book template is controlled with a single slider value.
